I am a little bit concerned about the decreased amount of physical education lessons at schools. During time the amount of these classes have been significantly reduced. For example finland is almost a top land in the amount of physical education for 11-years old kids, but when they move to the next institution the number of their sport lessons drops dramatically.
This has alredy created many problems. For example our young population have becomed fatter than they have ever been. This fatness is a spike on their skin. It creates insecurity in their minds and that way creates a social problems between their everyday intercommunication. And when they alredy are in a bad shape they might have a weak self-belief and they guaranteely won't find a hobby like football which could help them out. It also causes a health-problems at the younger ages than usually and creates a mental image that the government doesn't think the best for their nation by ignoring this huge problem.
If there is something bad, there is always something good. In this case the number of physical education lessons will be increased by the new syllabus which will take action in the 2016. There they decreased the
amount of religion lessons and increased the amount of sport lessons with two extra lessons. This is definitely a good direction for the future childrens but the problem still remains and probably will remain for a long time.
This is an important theme! There are also many dissimilar reasons for example the development of the technology which creates the same problems which you told about. But the decreased amount of the physical education is a big part of these problems. It's sad that even young people suffer from fatness and social problems. It's stupid and weird that the government doesn't do much for this situation although it gets a lots of problems when the amount of unsocial citizens increases. We can help and advise our friends and acquaintances but I think that the government has also responsibility to do something. The new syllabus is a good start but I think that changes should be tried to do earlier.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very important topic. I'm glad that religion classes will be reduced and the amount of physical education will be increased. Physical education is very important and I agree with you.
ReplyDeleteYou have chosen your topic well. Nowadays, the lack of excercise and obesity is a serious problem. It's nice that finally something is going to be done about it. More excercise and better eating habits for children! Kids must encouraged at home to start a hobby and try to keep in shape. Children are our future and the future must be saved. Great blog.
ReplyDeleteI think that it's very important to take care of the children's physical condition so I agree that P.E. lessons should be increased a lot. Nowadays in secondary school they have only two lessons of P.E. and thats not very much to take care of the children's fitness and health. The mankind is made to move and we should fulfil this and not just drive a car and walk about two hundred meters a day and lie in a sofa watching TV or playing video games. Everybody should be leaded to a life with full of movement.
ReplyDeleteA great point. And personally, important to me since I am an athlete myself. School can make the future of our children better encouraging them to follow the healthy lifestyle. Some families may be unable to afford expensive hobbies, so those kids should get exercise at school at least. But if parents can afford their children's hobbies by sacrificing something else... They should do that for their kids.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you brought this topic up! And I agree with you that there should be more P.E lessons. Nowadays like Joonas said there is only two P.E lessons a week in secondary school. And only one day of the week! Still the recommendation for 13-18 year old's is to "work-out" at least an half an hour per day. And a lot of people don't have time to do sports at their freetime because of all the school stuff or work. So if there were P.E lessons every day students wouldn't have to worry when they have time to work-out. But it's great that the government is trying to fix the problem!
ReplyDeleteThis problem has troubled our young generations a long while. And it's a good thing that people are aware of this problem and there will be certain actions. If kids aren't interested in sports, P.E lessons will be in big role to encourage kids to start enjoy sports. It's a shame that everybody don't know how good it feels to move until you're exhausted. Lets just hope that in 2016 things will change to better direction.
