Internet piracy

There's been a lot of discussion about internet piracy. I don't see piracy as a bad thing because most of the people downloading stuff wouldn't buy it, though it isn't morally right. One thing a downloader could do is to buy the stuff he downloaded if he liked it. Most downloaders only use/watch the material because it's free. I personally think that taking internet piracy down isn't gonna really make the situation better. Piracy can actually give a little more credit for the material producers because more people can see the material because it has been uploaded free somewhere. Though when people download there is always loss in money for the producers. I believe that piracy will give fame for the producers.

Piracy is illegal in Finland. Uploading material in which you don't have rights is punished in some cases. Downloading is also illegal, but I only in one case have heard that someone got punished from downloading. I think that downloading shouldn't be punished. In my opinion it's okay if you download something for your own use. When you share something it's the situation where you break the copyrights.

One question for piracy is that should it be legal to download old material at some point. When something comes to the age that it has been forgotten and hardly being sold it won't damage anyone if it's downloaded. I think that it would make stuff more spread. That would also give fame to producers of course.

Piracy has been talked as a big problem and it takes from hundreds dollars to millions dollars from the producers. If it really would be that big problem, all the world famous musicians wouldn't be flying their private jets and buying new mansions every other year. Also I think that a method for antipiracy would had been made, such as share proof discs or something which would make the sharing impossible.

Cell phones

In my opinion cell phones are getting heavier and heavier for the health of environment. Making of cell phones spends environments resources. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be cell phones, I think that they are a great invention and they are very useful gadgets which are getting better and better all the time. But I think it's a problem that cell phone manufacturers have started this "smartphone competition". Nowadays manufacturers publish new smartphone models every month, with just small upgrades compared to the last model. Also the time that one phone lasts has gone down a lot during few last years. It means that people buy new phones way more often than earlier. Also nowadays a common cause to buy a new phone is the small upgrades. Not that the phone would be broken.

Smartphones make humans need phones that they don't really need. They just think that they must get the latest stuff. In many wealthy countries there are more than one phone for one person. I don't really see a point in having many phones. I bet that in many cases the person with many phones could continue his life with just one. Soon humans will drown to the amount of cell phones and environment will take a big hit because of that.

Smartphones have also done some good things. Nowadays phones are more than just phones, you can access internet anywhere and get useful applications which can help you in the daily life. It also seems that digital cameras are being combined with smartphones. Soon there is no need to create digital cameras because every phone will have something like ten plus megapixels in their cameras. Same with ipods and mp3's because you can download music to every phone nowadays.

Because smartphones are so useful and you can do so many things with them they are starting to ruin social moments. No tourist has to go ask help with a location because his phone will show the exact location and the route to location. I also have seen this phenomenon myself quite some times. I have gone to a bus and everyone is just sitting there with their phone on their hand. People walk around the city with their phone and don't even give a small look at anyone else. Person becomes a slave of his phone.

Melting glaciers

Glaciers are a big part of the global warming. Melting glaciers are probably one of the biggest problems that are caused by global warming. As the glaciers melt the water level raises. I think that raising water level is a big problem and I think that everybody can agree. I've seen some pictures about big floods around the world. Those pictures give you the harsh truth about what global warming can do. And it all starts from the melting glaciers. Also about the floods, they will get bigger and bigger as the glaciers melt. At some point land starts to drown under water for good.

Floods and raising water level isn't the only problem that melting glaciers cause. Animals living in the glacier are in big danger. I don't want to see beautiful animals such as penguings disappear. Also animals all around the world are in danger if the water takes over their homes. Though so are the humans. I see melting glaciers as the biggest problem in global warming. I think that everyone should read a little about global warming and then think if they can global warming stop. It doesn't have to be big actions. Start small.

To ink, or not to ink - that is the question

Getting a tattoo is not a thing you decide in one day. You have to ask yourself if you really want it and if you really won't regret it later. Because, as everyone probably knows, tattoos are (or at least should be) permanent.

I think it's just ridiculous to take a tattoo drunk or just for fun. Even more ridiculous is to tattoo your boy-/girlfriend's name as a wild teenager, thinking your relationship will last forever. Most likely it won't. And what can you do when you have your ex-lover's name on your shoulder, for example? Sure you can cover it with a new tattoo which will, of course, be quite expensive. You can also remove the tattoo with a laser but it will cost you, as well. So the point of getting a tattoo should always be that you will not cover or remove it later.

Moreover, getting a tattoo carries many risks. Depending on the hygiene of the tattoo shop, tattooing can cause different infectious diseases or even hepatitis and HIV, for example. To avoid these harms tattoo artists must always use sterilized equipment, new needles, disposable gloves and masks; none of this equipment can be re-used or shared. So before you ink, do some research and choose a tattoo shop that is most trustworthy and hygienic and where the artists are professional

However, my point here is not to say tattoos are bad, rather vice versa. I have been thinking about getting a tattoo for years, and I finally decided to get one when I turn 18. So, in my opinion tattoos are great but they should have some meaning. I've found a perfect tattoo for myself and I couldn't be more excited to get it.

So before you ink, remember to think (:

Positive thinking!

It is amazing how much it can affect your life by being positive. There lies a whole new world in it, which is wonderful and full of opportunities. Imagine a situation where is given a choice to apply to a new job which is in another town and you should move in there to live. You also are currently unempyed.

Now what would negative person think? He or she would probably think all the bad things that would come from applying that job, like it would take too much effort to move to the another town, and there would possible be bad co-workers who would bully you. It would be not worth the effort and you would failure anyway in that job like you have done previous times.

I wonder what positive person would think in that situation. I'm quite sure that he/she would think that applying that job is an amazing opportunity to a new life and prove yourself that you can still do it. And moving to the another town? It is an awesome chance to meet new people and probably get some new friends along seeing new landscapes. Could it get any better? Yes, by thinking positive you will be very self-confidence about the future and see all the good things that are ahead.

I would like to share this one link for you from the Positiivarit website: http://www.emaileri.fi/g/l/78059/0/0/353/133/0
That link is typical letter which you can for free order to come in your email. It comes every day and there are great sayings and lessons from real life and about being positive. I really recommend you to check it out!

If you are negative you are not even able to see all the wonderful opportunies around you just waiting you to pick them up from the air and that is really shame my friend. Just open your eyes and be positive and I promise that good things will happen.

Stay positive!

Drawing

There are many fascinating things in drawing. If you take an empty piece of paper in front of you it is totally up to you what you can create in that paper, and I think that is one of the best thing in drawing. You can draw whatever you want, and only the sky is limit. To be honest, even the sky is not a limit. Your mind can wander even higher than the sky all the way to the unkown and only your imagination can be a barrier for that.

When looking that paper you can inside in your mind first sketch the scene or the thing you want to draw. If you want to be professinal drawer there are many things you have to think while making the drawing such as the overall scene in that picture, where is the light source and are there more than one, what is the perspective, and if you are making the cartoon you might think what exact moment you want to capture from that scene, what is the ultimate point in that scene that points out the most important information for the viewer that you want to tell them in that point.

Sometimes it might be distressing to think all of those things as I have sometimes felt, but fear not my son, when (notice the word "when") you learn to be better you automatically start to think those questions and answer them almost imperceptibly in your subconscious.

Like in any other thing you learn to do it by actually doing it. The same thing applies to drawing as well. If you draw a lot, you will learn to draw and the more you draw the more your drawing skills develope. For example in just a one year I dramatically leveled up my drawing skills. Good tip is to always put a day, month and year somewhere in your drawing so you can later on easily watch how much you have progressed. It is very rewarding to see it.

I'm myself self-taught drawer, and you can really get amazed how much you can learn by watching youtube video tutorials of drawing and talking to the professional drawers from all around the world and ask them questions via internet. If you want to learn to draw, just grab a pen and start practising. Go to the internet to seek information, because it's all there if you just now how to find it.

What is a good company like in the video game branch (my opinion)

I have been thinking of going to work as a graphic designer or similar in a game company, but after hearing some employee stories of that very same job I have experienced a lack of excitement of going to be a graphic designer. Those stories are alarming stories of nowadays typical worklife which is very hectic and usually the main goal of corporations is to make money, and for those companiens making the money is even more important prioritery than the corporation workers health.

Game companies usually works like this: They have a idea for the game or maybe they have done it already. Next thing they have to do is to find a publisher who would publish their game to the whole world. Here comes the problem; those publishers have usually big word power of what kind of game it should be meaning that they can order which things game developers have to remove from their game, so they are censoring the games. Even the more concerning thing is that if that publisher says that you have to make that video game completely done in one month, then those developers must get the game done in time or else they have to pay big amount of cash for every day the game isn't ready until it's finished. Because of this, nowadays it's usual that when a game company releases their game, it's usually not completely finished and there are many bugs and errors in it.

Because of some of those bad publishers, some game developers want to do video games without them telling to you what to do and when to do it, so they decide to be indie game developer. Indie game developer means that developer is making games independently without publishers and usually makes games with couple other guys or completely alone in their own houses. There is a term for that which is "bedroom coder". There are other options besides working with publisher in order to get some visibitily to your game, Steam Greenlight-program is one very good option. Sometimes a whole video game company can be indie. One big advantage being indie game developer is that you can make video games without anyone censoring it, and only your imagination and skills are the limit that you can do. There is no one slowing you down but yourself, and you make the games whenever you like.

You might wonder why I have told all of this, but believe me when I say that all of this relates to the subject. I'd like to remind before we go any further that this is my personal opinion and view of how to be good video game company.

I am seriously planning on setting up a video game company some day, and I have already made clear in my mind that what are the most important prioritys in it. Like I said in the first chapter usually nowadays in video game companys (and others as well) main goal is to make money one way or another without paying attention to the worker. In my own game company my number one priority will be making and keeping the workplace's atmosphere good, and making sure that employees have good time. I think that is very important goal to achieve, because the company's employees are the heart of the company and if they aren't feeling well the company isn't either. I am completely sure that when employees are treated well it surely will show in their motivation towards their work and they will be making their tasks better. That's not the reason though I would like to take care of my companys employees, I just want to offer a job for those positive and great people where they are treated well and their well-being is the number one piority, because nowadays that is a rare phenomenon I believe.

I don't want to set up my own video game company and be the leader in it because I'd like to have power and maybe some day big salary, the reason for it is that as long I myself lead the company nobody can change the companys top priority of employees well-being to an other priority such as making much money as possible and forgetting employees.

When I will recruit employees to my company it plays a very important role that what kind of persons those people are. I have very little help from a employee who, for example, might be quite good at making graphics, but he/she is very negative person who poisons the atmosphere in the company and is trying to make co-workers feel miserable. Because of those people I'd like to build my own company and make sure that at least in my company there will be no employees like that. I would more definitely hire a person who might not be the most best drawer but he/she haves huge motivation and excitement to learn, and is positive person who respects the other employees like the else crew does. That is my ideal employee. I genuinely believe that one can learn anything if he/she wants to, but in order to do so they have to have the excitement and motivation.
